A group of EU ASEM officials and experts, led by Alternate Senior Official, Mr Michael MATTHIESSEN paid a working visit to
Mongolia from 29 June to 2 July 2015.

The delegation was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, L. Purevsuren, on the first day of their visit where
the Minister expressed his appreciation for EU’s readiness to assist Mongolia in successfully hosting the 11th ASEM Summit
in 2016. The Minister informed the guests that he would attend the 12th ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (ASEM FMM12)
scheduled in November in Luxembourg.

During their stay in Ulaanbaatar, the EU officials had a series of meetings with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ASEM Mongolia
National Council Working Groups, the Office of the President of Mongolia, and the Ulaanbaatar City Mayor’s Office and
examined the ASEM Villa now under construction as well as the Shangri-La hotel.

Mr Matthiessen expressed EU’s willingness to work closely together with Mongolia by sharing its expertise and experience
to make the 11th ASEM Summit (ASEM11) and the 20th ASEM Anniversary celebration a success.
