Malta Further and Higher Education Authority Celebrates ASEM Day 2024

29 February 2024

Message of Dr Rose Anne Cuschieri, Chief Executive Officer, The Malta Further and Higher Education Authority, on the Celebration of ASEM Day, 1 March 2024

As we joyously commemorate the 28th Anniversary of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), I extend my warm greetings and sincere wishes to all individuals across Asia and Europe. May this day brings success, joy, and prosperity, as well as endless happiness, good fortune in our future goals and endeavors. On this special ASEM Day, I would like to take the opportunity to share a heartfelt message on behalf of the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority.

Over the past 28 years, ASEM has evolved into a significant forum comprising 53 members, dedicated to advancing cooperation, encouraging economic development, and strengthening cultural relationships across the two continents. Serving as a key forum, it has played an essential role in driving dialogues that enrich multilateralism – through its key principles such as prioritising consensus, mutual interest, and respect to effectively navigate inter-regional matters and global challenges.

Ensuring equitable access to further and higher education, and advocating for equal opportunities regardless of socio-economic status, is of utmost importance. Our educational institutions have found value in exchanging best practices related to digital learning tools and curricula, alongside providing continuous training for educators and teachers. The collaborative effort, focused on mutual learning and leveraging existing expertise, employs digitalisation to address educational disparities and foster inclusivity.

I express my sincere gratitude to everyone, which have been instrumental in shaping our journey. As we embark on the next phase, may our shared commitment to equitable education, sustainable development, and lifelong learning continue to guide our collective path.

I acknowledge with pleasure the enthusiasm and positive responses that contribute to strengthening collaboration in both areas. I trust that the years ahead will serve as a guiding force, shaping our futures and endeavours. May the shared understanding inspire our respective education systems, enriching the future pathways of our multidimensional cooperation in education.

May the productive discussions and common aspirations established echo as we collaborate towards a future marked by inclusive growth and prosperity.

Sincerely,

Dr Rose Anne Cuschieri,
Chief Executive Officer,
The Malta Further and Higher Education Authority
