ASEM Business Forum: Strengthening Asia-Europe economic ties to overcome the global financial crisis and beyond06 May 2009 Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam The ASEM Business Forum on “Strengthening Asia – Europe economic ties to overcome the global financial crisis and beyond”, co-organized by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in co-ordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam, will take place on the 6 th May 2009 in Ho Chi Minh City. The Forum is a significant sideline event towards the 9 th ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM 9), to be held in Ha Noi in late May. Given the global financial crisis, the Forum will be a valuable opportunity for Ambassadors, Consul Generals of ASEM members in Viet Nam and entrepreneurs/representatives from ASEM members to work out measures on how to overcome the crisis. Representatives from such international financial institutions as the IMF, WB and ADB offices in Viet Nam will also be invited to share their insights. The Forum will provide participants with the opportunities: - to exchange view on the economic and social impact of the financial crisis;
- to discuss and work out measures to enhance economic relations between the two continents; and
- to see what ASEM partners and their business people should do for the post-crisis economic growth.
